Sumitomo Chemical to launch new fungicide in Italy

On 4 October 2012, Sumitomo Chemical Co (Sumitomo Chemical) announced that it has developed a new fungicide, Prolectus, for control of such diseases as gray mold (Botrytis cinered) and scle-rotinia rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) and Monilinia (Monilinia sp) in grapevines, stone fruit trees and vegetables and will launch it in Italy this autumn through its group company Sumitomo Chemical Italia Srl. Prolectus contains a novel active ingredient fenpyrazamine, which Sumitomo Chemical has discovered as a result of its comprehensive independent research.
