Washington - The number of law enforcement officers who died on the job during the first six months of 2009 rose 20 percent from the same period last year, a report from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund said. Sixty-six officers died in the first half of this year, compared with 55 who died through midyear 2008, according to preliminary data from Washington-based NLEOMF.
