DOT orders full departmental review of motorcoach safety

Washington - Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood on April 30 ordered a full departmental review of motorcoach safety following a hearing on a crash that killed nine people. DOT officials said in a press release that a "Departmental Motorcoach Safety Action Plan" will be created from the review's findings and will include an outline of additional steps needed to improve motorcoach safety. Participating agencies will include the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the Federal Highway Administration and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
