MSHA unveils new mine escape system

ARLINGTON,VA-A "Great Escape" has been designed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration to assist workers evacuating from an underground mine in an emergency.The newly developed escape system,designed by MSHA's Office of Technical Support,is a 42-inch diameter concrete pipe with access doors and vents that could potentially transport miners to the surface with a battery-powered carrier.
