Risk factors and seroepidemiology of bovine herpesvirus-1 andparainfluenza virus-3 were investigated in 22 Industrial and Semi-Industrial dairy Holsteinfarms. Serum samples (n=736) from different ages of unvaccinated female cattle were takenduring May to September 2012. Risk factors such as age, previous history of respiratory disease,level of milk production, type of husbandry and herd size were included in the study. Theresults were analyzed by Chi-square and logistic regression test. Results showed that theinfection with BPI-3 and BHV-1 was related to age, level of milk production, previous history ofrespiratory disease and herd size. The seroprevalence for BPI-3 and BHV-1 was 91.3% and 19%,respectively. The present study showed that infections of BPI-3 and BHV-1 are very common incattle in Fars province and these viruses are involved in the occurrence of bovine respiratorydisease complex.
