Seroprevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in Kerman, Iran.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)Infection is common worldwide and is a significant cause of upper gastrointestinal disease.Prevalence of H. pylori infection varies in different population groups internationally. Sero-prevalence of H pylori in 275 dyspeptic patients in Kerman province, Iran at different seasonsduring 2015 is reported. Variables included season, sex, and age. Sera were evaluated for thepresence of anti H. pylori IgG by microplate enzyme immunoassay. 177 patients (64.36%) werepositive for anti IgG H. pylori antibodies but there was no correlation with sex or age. Positivesera values correlated (P<0.05) with season. The findings suggest a high prevalence of H. pyloriinfection which may be affected by season in dyspeptic people located in Kerman, Iran.
