Crescent fracture of the pelvis in a 4-year-old child.

Pelvic fractures, especially those requiring operative treatment, are rare in the immature pelvis. Pelvis asymmetry and SI joint disruption can lead to many long term debilitating deformities that include leg length deformities, scoliosis and post traumatic arthritis. Operative treatment may alleviate some of these unfortunate sequelae.A 4 year-old girl presented with mild abdominal pain, left hip pain, and inability to bear weight on her left lower extremity after a large television fell onto her left leg and pelvis. On examination, the patient had normal motor and sensory function of her left lower extremity but reported worsening hip pain with any manipulation. The patient had no other significant injuries and remained hemodynamically stable.
