Effect of levels of nitrogen and zinc on grain yield and their uptake in transplanted rice

The effect of levels of nitrogen (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg N ha~(-1)) and Zinc Sulphate (0, 12.5, 25, 37.5 and 50 kg ha~(-1)) on grain yield and nutrient uptake of transplanted rice (Oryza sativa L) variety 'Sujata' (135 D) was studied. The maximum grainyield (4.211 ha~(-1)) was recorded with (120 kg ha~(-1)). The effect of zinc sulphate was significant only upto (25 kg ha~(-1)). The uptake of nitrogen and zinc increased progressively with increased levels of nitrogen and zinc sulphate. The value of crop growth rate (CGR), relative growth rate (RGR) and net assimilation rate (NAR) at 60-90 DAT was observed 9.34gm~(-2)d~(-1), 0.076 gg~(-1)d~(-1) and 0.181 gdm~(-2)d~(-1), respectively at 120 kg N ha~(-1). Leaf area index (LAI) at 90 DAT was also higher (5.04) at highest level ofN. However, the effect of zinc sulphate was significant only upto the moderate level (25 kg ZnSO_4 ha~(-1)).
