Gene Crocker Recognized for Excellence in Hybridizing

GENE CROCKER WAS recognized with an award for excellence in hybridizing in May of 2014. AOS President Frank Smith formally presented Gene with the crystal plaque commemorating the award at the recent Fifth Annual Cattleya Symposium in Ft. Pierce, FL in August. Gene has been influential in orchid circles in North and South Carolina for over 50 years and has been growing orchids since he was 10 or 11. He was a founding member of the South Carolina Orchid Society and has been a contributor to many educational programs, not only in the two Carolinas but nationally and internationally and was influential in the establishment of the Atlanta and Carolinas AOS judging centers.
