Types, properties, and main characteristics of microheterogeneous organized media used in lumi-nescent spectroscopy are considered. Starting from the analysis of data presented in the literature as the base, the reasons responsible for an enhanced efficiency of the luminescent analysis using organized media are revealed. The main achievements in the application of fluorescent, phosphorescent, and chemiluminescent methods of analysis to the detection of inorganic and organic compounds in the presence of micelles, micro-emulsions, vesicles, cyclodextrins, and calyxarenes are generalized.
