Transverse Shift of a Beam of Rays Caused by the Perpendicular Component of the Gradient of the Amplitude of Poynting's vector

The effect of transverse deviation of a beam of rays is shown to appear in the presence of the transverse component of the gradient of the amplitude of Poynting's vector. The effect is proportional to the mean curvature of the wave front and is determined by the sign of circular polarization.
