On a New Quantum Definition for the Degree of Polarization of an Electromagnetic Field

A new definition for the degree of polarization of radiation, which takes into account the quantum fluctuations of a field, is proposed. The degree of depolarization of radiation is related to specific features of the quantum fluctuations in the vector of polarization and depends on the average number of photons.
