摘要

The feasibility of Multi-Pixel Photon Counter (MPPC) serving as the detector of the receiver in digital optical communication was discussed in this paper. The theory of the sensitivity of the receiver using MPPC was demonstrated. The analytical solution to the minimum average incident light power required was obtained. The numerical analysis results show that the sensitivity is much better than the existing commercial receivers in the same conditions. It may find applications in fields where high sensitivity of optical receiver is a mandatory requirement.
