摘要

We prescribe analytical expressions for far-field pattern of mono-mode graded index fibers in the low V region. Our formulation is based on the power series expression for fundamental mode of such fibers. The concerned evaluations involve little computations. Taking step and parabolic index fibers as typical examples, we show that the results found by our simple formalism agree excellently with the available exact results. This simple formalism can also be employed to estimate accurately different propagation parameters associated with far-field of such fibers. This accurate but user friendly method will benefit the designers and packagers in the field of optical engineering. (C) 2016 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
