摘要

The interaction of near-resonant pulsed laser radiation with potassium atoms is studied experimentally. The input radiation had a frequency upsilon(p) = 13055 cm(-1) which was 12 cm(-1) higher than the 4S(1/2)-4P(3/2) atomic transition frequency upsilon(0) = 13043 cm(-1). The strong spectral broadening of pump radiation in the medium allowed to observe a new absorption line at frequency upsilon(a) = upsilon(0) + Delta = 13101 cm(-1), shifted from resonance absorption line at frequency upsilon(0) by fine-splitting the value Delta = 58 cm(-1) of the 4P level. The polarization characteristics of the new absorption line are investigated. The appearance of this absorption line is explained by the process of Raman scattering manifested in the absorption spectrum. [References: 13]
