摘要

This research investigated the characteristics of single-wavelength optical pulses generated with orthogonal-polarization optical feedback in semiconductor lasers. Optical pulses with a pulse rate of 470 MHz and a pulse width around 700 ps were observed. A model was also proposed to solve the inconsistency between the experimental results and the computer simulations of Otsuka and Chern's model. Furthermore, the new model's predictions explore that single-wavelength Giga-Hertz optical pulses could be generated using this method with conventional technology.
