Spherochromatic aberrations of a model eye implanted with bifocal hybrid (diffractive-refractive) intraocular lenses (IOL) are investigated. The possibility of applying the same diffractive component in order to provide near vision upon changing the main dioptric power of IOL (distance vision) and refraction of the cornea within the most commonly used values is shown. The image quality was evaluated by the minimal spread spot and the Strehl number. It is found that the quality of images of near objects produced by a bifocal TOL in all of the considered cases is better than or on the level of images of distant objects produced by the refractive component, i.e., on the level of images produced by monofocal refractive IOL.
