Occupational Therapy Models for Intervention with Children and Families is a wonderful easy and practical book to read. The author begins by defining and differentiating theory, frame of reference and model. She then delineates each of the following models: Person-Environment-Occupation, Model of Human Occupation, Occupational Adaptation, and Ecology of Human Performance, along with the frames of reference of sensory integration and neurodevelopmental treatment in the context of occupational science and the application of these to practice. Each model is articulated clearly and succinctly with pragmatic case-based learning activities that enhance the reader's understanding and use of the models for evaluation and intervention. The author clearly articulates the thought processes of reasoning for decision making while using each of these models to promote occupational performance within the child's and family's contexts. She also spends time discussing the integration of models with frames of reference articulating how these should mesh for clinical use. The crisp black, white and gray graphics and tables that accompany each model are easily comprehended and provide quick visual summaries of the theories supporting each model and the models' application.
