OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY EVIDENCE IN PRACTICE FOR PHYSICAL REHABILITATION

Editor Lois Addy, a pediatric therapist and faculty member based in Britain, developed this book to demonstrate the use of evidence in physical rehabilitation practice to occupational therapy students and recent graduates. Evidence-based practice is a current topic in health care making this text especially relevant to the occupational therapy profession. Beginning with an overview of evidence-based practice, the introductory chapter clearly presents its role in the occupational therapy profession. Uniquely, Addy includes a useful method for occupational therapists to identify the most appropriate evidence in the literature to support evaluations, interventions, and outcome measures used in their practice. Though the focus is on using evidence, the importance of including theories, frames of reference, and clinical reasoning in occupational therapv practice is mentioned.
