OCLC ILL Direct Request allows user-initiated, library-controlled interlibrary loan

With the new OCLC ILL Direct Request service, libraries can allow their users to initiate requests and send them directly to the OCLC Interlibrary Loan service. The first user-initiated request was placed at the University of Minnesota, and the University of Michigan filled the request. Both institutions are participants of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), which comprises 12 major teaching and research university libraries. The CIC Virtual Electronic Library uses OCLC online services and software, including Direct Request, to share resources.
