Geophysical,Geological,and Geomorphological Studies from the R/V Akademik Sergei Vavilov in the Northwest Antarctic

摘要

At present,the term Antarctic is used to denote the earth's area south of the line of the Southern Polar Front,which represents the convergence of oceanic waters between 50 deg and 60 deg S.During recent years,the attention paid to the study of this region has significantly grown;meanwhile,the studies that were initiated in 1956 have been sharply reduced from 1991 according to the International Madrid Protocol on environmental protection in the Antarctic.
