The definition of clinical guidelines raises questions related to the principle (standardized vs. individualized care) but also scientific questions: which evidence must our guidelines be based on? How must stakeholders work together? Given its impact onmedical practice and patients' life, this point has unleashed endless debates in all western countries. In Great Britain, definition of guideline is a long-lasting process (between 18months and 2 years) that makes all parties actively involved in.
