Innovation in Health Information for Breast Cancer Patients: Film-Web Documentary, and Questions/Answers Booklet

Most of the time, the available health information dedicated to the patients is insufficient or inadequate. Internet has become the major source of information in the health field. Health professionals should integrate patients in the making of these new information tools. Written information and video are the main supports and for these reasons we chose to guide our patients in two breast cancer pathways. In the first one we elaborated two tools for patients, who will have a mastectomy or for whom one is planned, in which they are questioning the possible ways of having a reconstruction. A booklet of questions/answers as well as a web documentary "Healing our perceptions" has been elaborated. Secondly, we worked on a 6-minute video that highlights the different steps for patients having breast cancer in day surgery. Interactions between health professionals and filmmakers are essential to elaborate health-related videos. Consequently, we showed that health practitioners can use Internet cleverly and share information in a different way with patients and their relatives.
