PGNiG intensifies shale gas exploration

Polskie Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S A (PGNIG) has embarked on the next stage of exploration for shale gas in south-eastern Poland. In March, drilling started in the Tomaszow Lubelski licence area in the Province of Lublin. The Lubycza Kr61ewska well is being drilled by PNiG Krakow, a PGNiG subsidiary. The well will be drilled to the depth of 4300 m in order to collect more information on the volume of shale gas reserves in the Lublin Province. According to preliminary data, gas may be expected to be encountered at a depth of about 2300 m to 4300 m.
