Hydraulic Fracturing Legislation Could Hurt E&P Industry

Hydraulic fracturing regulations proposed in the US Congress this week may hold a number of adverse consequences for unconventional oil and gas producers. Rep. Diana Degette (D-Colorado), the vice chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Reps. Maurice Hinchey (D-New York) and Jared Polis (DColorado) formally introduced legislation eliminating an exemption that has allowed fossil fuel producers to avoid complying with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
