Oil and natural gas leases acquired last year in Alaska's Chukchi Sea remain in imbo, but other recent US offshore lease sales are valid, according to an order is sued by the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. The order, issued late Tuesday, clarified the court's Apr. 17 ruling which said the current five-year outer continental shelf leasing program is invalid because of inadequate environmental review and planning (OD Apr.20,p7).
