China National Petroleum Corp. (CN-PC) is set to acquire Canada's Verenex Energy for US$400 million. Verenex's key asset is its interest in Libya's Ghadames Basin Area 47, where phase one output of 50,000 b/d and 50 MMcf/d of gas is expected from 2011.
