Devon CEO: Shale Has Triggered ‘Paradigm Shift’ in North America

The North American oil and gas resource base is much larger than imagined even a decade ago, creating jobs, expanding local tax bases and reducing spending on energy imports, energy executives told the 2010 NAPE Conference in Houston on Wednesday. Devon Energy Chief Executive John Richels described developments in recent years as “a geological paradigm shift” in which the industry is “no longer chasing struc- tural and stratigraphic traps.”
