A Wednesday deadline set by Ecuadore-an President Rafael Correa for foreign oil producers to sign new contracts is looming, and it appears the government will push some recalcitrant companies out of the country. On Saturday, Correa said during a weekly televised address that most firms will sign the contracts, which would convert their existing production-sharing agreements into service deals with state-owned Petroecuador. However, he said "a couple of companies" would likely refuse and instead give up their concessions.
