Forest Uses Slick-Water Fractures to Tap Nikanassin Gas in Alberta

The decision to apply technology used in US unconventional gas plays north of the border has started to pay off for Denver-based Forest Oil. The company said at its analyst day in New York on Thursday that it has been getting good results from tight gas sands in Alberta’s Deep Basin by applying the slick-water fracture completion technology it uses in areas like the Granite Wash play in the Texas Panhandle.
