China Leads ‘Renaissance’ of Global Nuclear Power Industry

For all the talk of a “global nuclear renais- sance,” the only real evidence of a revival is in Asia — and China in particular. Of the 54,615 MWe gross of nuclear ca- pacity under active construction at some point in 2009, nearly 43% was in China. More strikingly, 83% of the 14,836 MWe gross of nuclear capacity on which work started last year was in China.
