ConocoPhillips has informed Lukoil of its intention to sell a stake in Russia’s second biggest oil firm in a move that could herald the break-up of the most successful US-Russia energy partnership to date. Lukoil Chief Executive Vagit Alekperov said the US oil major could sell its shares in small portions and that Lukoil saw no need to use its pre-emptive right to buy the stake.
