Oil prices continued their upward path.WTI passed the 130/bbl mark and some of the outer months were quoted above 140.IPE prompt gasoil futures went above l,300/t for the first time and products were strong across the board.High fuel prices prompted demonstrations by road hauliers in Great Britain and several groups in France.The British government came under pressure to cut fuel excise duties and tried in vain to stem the upward tide in prices by announcing a series of long term measures to encourage North Sea oil production and build new nuclear power stations.
