Weidner Advisors' Private Capital Index shows larger appetite

The year-end 2012 Weidner Advisors Private Capital Energy Index reflects a broadening base of oil and gas money management firms, including an increased appetite for credit issues. Two new participants have been added to the index to replace two older legacy participants. This change better reflects the evolving and growing list of capital providers, including oil and gas-focused affiliates of larger, generalist enterprises. Inclusion of these new entrants maintains the significance of capital activity reported. Participants have raised more money and their pace of monetizations remains high, driven by year-end tax increase avoidance and by value-added exits into yield vehicles.
