Saudi Aramco's I-Field Initiative: From Concept to Implementation

Information technology is clearly a key component in all of today's new technology. As such, it is fundamental to the process of solving the challenges faced by the hydrocarbon industry. Saudi Aramco, being both a major player and a technological leader in this industry, has a well-established strategy in place to participate in driving both the development and the implementation of advanced technology applications. Saudi Aramco's strategy is encapsulated in the Intelligent Field (I-Field) initiative. The primary objectives of this initiative are to enhance hydrocarbon recovery through timely understanding of flow challenges, early and efficient intervention, full-field optimization, reduction of capital and operating costs and enhanced safety performance through remote monitoring and alerts.
