World Oilseed Production Set to Rise by 27 Mn T, Boosting Supplies by 32.5 Mn T

During the past four weeks we have made only small changes to our world production estimates. We have marginally reduced our crop estimates for soybeans, groundnuts and palmkernels and made some upward revisions for sunflowerseed, rapeseed and cottonseed. We now estimate world production of 10 oilseeds at 491.7 Mn T this season from a harvested area of 270.1 Mn ha. This implies a recovery in the average yield to 1.82 T/ha (up 3%). Our production estimate is 26.8 Mn T above 2012/13 with a boost in the harvested area by an above-average 5.6 Mn ha or 2.1%.
