Impact of El Nino on natural rubber production explained

There are expectations of an El Nino weather pattern, which produces a drier climate, this year in Asia and some other parts of the world. Potentially, this can have an impact on the world natural rubber (NR) production, as Asia produces 93% of global output. It is very difficult to accurately estimate the impact of El Nino on NR production, as there is such a large number of variables that can influence the production. Strong El Nino years took place in 1982-83, 1987-88 and 1997-98. NR production increased in both 1982 (1.4%) and 1983 (7.5%).
