RMA predicts 2% growth in 2013 U.S. tire shipments

An anticipated increase in vehicle miles traveled and economic growth should result in a nearly 2% increase in 2013 U.S. tire shipments, according to the Rubber Manufacturers Association. The RMA said tire shipment figures for 2012 are projected to remain unchanged from 2011 at 284 million units, as an increase in OE shipments offset a decrease in replacement shipments. The RMA estimates shipments this year will increase by six million units to 290 million total units.
