Design advancements for high speed, energy input (HSEI) twin screw extruders (TSEs) offer new compounding opportunities for TPE/TPO/TPU/TPV formulations. This family generally includes plastics and rubbers that are mixed with fillers, fibers, additives, liquids and reactants. Feedstocks come in a wide variety of forms, including pellets, powders, crumbs, strips, fibers and liquids that must be consistently metered into the extruder process section. How and where the raw materials are metered is dictated by a variety of factors and the overall formulation.
