BELARUSSIAN STEEL PLANT AIMS TO BOOST SEAMLESS PIPE OUTPUT

MINSK. (Interfax) - The Byelorussian Steel Works (BMZ), the country's largest steelmaker, plans to triple production of hot-rolled seamless pipes in October compared to the previous month, to 2,000 tonnes, a source at the company told Interfax on October 9. BMZ produced 660 tonnes of pipes in September. The plant intends to produce about 26,000 tonnes of hot-rolled seamless pipes this year, and by the end of the first half of 2008, production capacity is supposed to increase to 12,000 tonnes of pipes per month. BMZ is now finalizing set-up work to bring its pipe-rolling line up to design capacity.
