We examine some characteristics of airborne interferometric antenna arrays used in interrogation channels of air traffic control equipment; to remove any ambiguity in angular coordinate readings, we use the methods for base commutation, coded signal of interogation (eliminating influence of side lobes upon the readings of angle), and multiplicative receiving channel. The experiments showed that the use of these methods makes it possible to attain the well-defined angular resolution in air traffic control equipment, which may be compared with that in phased antenna arrays of airborne radars. Arrangement of the electrically scanning low-element interferometric array of air traffic control equipment beyond the phased antenna array aperture of airborne radar installations makes it possible to significantly reduce interference between the antenna arrays in these systems and improve the characteristics of the complex.
