POTANIN, PROKHOROV SELL 3.8 percent OF POLYUS GOLD IN BUYBACK

Offshore companies controlled by Vladimir Potanin, the president of the Interros holding, and Mikhail Prokhorov, the CEO of Norilsk Nickel, have sold 3.8 percent of the shares in Polyus Gold for an estimated 420 million dollars during a buy-back launched by the No. 1 Russian gold producer. Polyus Gold said in a November 14 statement that the Cyprus-registered Bristaco Holdings and Lovenco Holdings on November 10 reduced their equity stakes in Polyus from 16.3 percent to 14.39 percent each. Thus, Potanin and Prokhorov, acting via these two firms, each sold 1.9 percent of Polyus. The BVI-registered Jenington International Inc. is buying the shares back. The company owned 5.78 percent of Polyus by November 13.
