HIGHLAND GOLD UPS GOLD PRODUCTION 1.5 percent IN 2008

Highland Gold Mining (HGM) produced 158,885 ounces of gold in Russia in 2008, up 1.5 percent from 2007, the company said. The company mined 90,000 ounces of this in the second half of 2008. In H2 2008, the company's Mnogovershinnoye (MNV) mine produced 90,002 ounces of gold, bringing the yearly production to 158,885 ounces - which is within the forecasted range and exceeds the 2007 production figure by 1.5 percent. MNV, which is in the Khabarovsk territory, is HGM's only active gold production site at present. The company aims to produce 155,000-165,000 oz of gold there in 2009.
