IRKUTSK MINING CO COULD BUILD 1.4 BILLION DOLLARS IRON AND STEEL COMPLEX WITH CHINESE FIRM

LLC Irkutsk Mining and Metallurgical Company (IGMK) intends to form a joint venture with a Chinese firm to build a complex costing 1.4 billion dollars to produce direct reduced iron (DRI) and, in time, steel in the Irkutsk region, the company's general director, Vladimir Chernykh, told reporters. Chernykh said an understanding had been reached with a Chinese partner to invest the required amount. He did not name the Chinese company.
