Local residents object to blasting operations at Kazakhaltyn mine

Residents of the Bestobe village in Kazakhstan's Akmola region are protesting blasting works at a nearby mine operated by gold miner Kazakhaltyn. A few days ago, the villagers marched to the open pit located just a short distance, 15-20 meters, from their houses to prevent Kazakhaltyn from carrying out the scheduled blasts.
