Lids, Knobs, and Flanges

This is the second in a series of edited texts from Duncan Hooson and Anthony Quinn's The Workshop Guide to Ceramics in which we present steps in the making of a teapot. LIDS THAT FIT IN OR ON A FORM These are the simplest lids to throw because they require no actual fitting on the lid, just measuring with calipers. They may take the form of a thrown bowl or plate that sits inside the form on a gallery or on the shoulder. These may require a knob or handle depending on the size and design.
