The new apple variety SQ159 (Natyra) is full of promise not only because it is resistant to scab [Venturia inaequalis] but also shows great resistance against major diseases and the tree has some interesting characteristics. It is further distinguished by its excellent quality with an exceptionally long life, internal and external qualities and unparalleled high organoleptic complexity, qualities that have contributed to its excellent welcome by consumers. However, its productive potential causes some reservations, as well as some visual quality defects such as cracks and spots on the skin; its drawbacks stem through appropriate cultivation measures. SQ159 is nevertheless one of the most interesting varieties among currently available.
