Electron-beam technologies are used for melting, layerwise crystallization, casting, and spraying of metals, deposition of various coatings from the vapor phase, and obtaining composite materials by evaporation and subsequent condensation.Two-electrode electron guns with a straight-channel hot cathode made from a segment of a tungsten band are used in electron-beam devices. Stringent requirements are imposed on the band with respect to chemical composition, geometry, and mechanical properties. To form the structure and mechanical properties of tungsten during production of the band workpieces, the authors developed a complex technology taking into account the heredity of the metal at each of the treatment stages.
