Modeling of plastic flow of material

A survey of the latest developments in the area of mathematical, computer, geometric, and physical modeling of plastic flow of metal, in particular, in processes of die forming and pressure molding of workpieces made of aluminum alloys, is presented. Generally accepted models and their implementation in the form of different software modules are described. A major role is played by a review of software packages based on the method of finite elements. Geometric modeling, a method which makes it possible to trace the process of solving a problem on a monitor screen, is presented as one promising trend. A comparison of different methods is presented, and their advantages and drawbacks noted.
