In connection with the amphoteric properties of tin, both the acidic slags and the basic slags that form as the result of melting of the tin concentrates always contain significant amounts of tin in the form of silicates, stannates, stannoferroferrites, and other compounds, and also in the form of metallic tin beads.The slag stripping processes that are based on remelting do not make it possible to completely separate the tin from the slags, since the tin content in the slags is determined by the unfavorable conditions of thermodynamic equilibrium in the melts.
